sometimes you have to look outside fashion for inspiration

I went to see the Damien Ortega at the beining of this month at the Barbican. I got me thinking its easy to get inspired by fashion, I mean thats why we are forever re creating a time period or a look. The designers that inspire me shy away form direct influences and think outside the box....... more on that later.......

Prada Knee High Socks

Loving these socks....... well not the whole thing just a little bit tooooooo much going on for me but I think they have BAGS of potential (who am I to judge PRADA?)......
If I could knit a little bit better, Maybe allot better.......they would be over the knee and the cable would be at the back, like a seamed stocking. Oooooooh can you imagine! Better get those knitting needles out!
If you want to make them just as they are here is a link to Ravelry (my new favorite teach myself a new skill site) http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/prada-socks

new direction

So I have decided to take this blog in a new direction.....
after a weekend with my most trusted adviser I have decided to show you what makes me tick what I have been to see and what I have ended up making as a result. As the worst month of 2011 is nearly over its time to show you all the inner workings of my messy mind..... so the post below is the beginning and who knows where it will end :)

Rene Gruau - mini obsesion

When you start trying to get a Ilustration style together there are 1000 places to look. But with a love of Vintage ilustration there is nothing better than a bit of Gruau. If I can ever come within sniffing distance of this man I will be happy!

Fascinator making course

Well this is my first post, but I am going to jump right in feet first. I have just received an exiting disk of photos of an event I did earlier this year.

I was asked by a friend of mine to come along and teach a hen party how to make hats, a scary but exiting prospect. I set up all my equipment in the back garden of a rather cool east London pad. While Shay cooked up a storm for the guests in the kitchen (if you want to sample his food he is now cooking at the Hoxton Pony)  we got on with making some beautiful brightly colored fascinators. Have a peek at the results.
